New Berlin CUSD #16 is part of the National Breakfast and Lunch Program which requires enrollment in the school district for distribution of student meals. Families will be charged for meals at the established prices. Families eligible for reduced prices will be charged reduced prices and families eligible for free meals will not be charged. Meal distribution begins Thursday, August 20, 2020 and will be available to pick up on school days from 9:00am to Noon. If need be, you can pick up the following day breakfast and/or lunch. The following pick-up locations are:
• New Berlin Elementary Building at the South entrance (where bus drop-off is and where you go in to the gymnasium)
• Loami Fire Station
• Deerfield Subdivision on the corner of Johanne Ct and Bradfordton Rd (under a blue tent).
Meals need to be picked up by the student, parent or guardian. Please remember to maintain social distancing at the distribution site. An example of the breakfast is cereal or pastry, fruit, and white milk. A lunch bag may contain a cold cut sandwich or a microwavable item, fruit, vegetable, a snack item, and chocolate milk. We will have breakfast and lunch bags pre-made prior to arriving at the distribution sites so we will not accommodate personal preferences. Per Illinois School Code, students in Early Childhood, PK, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th Grades, and Seniors will still need to provide the required health documents even though we will be learning remotely. The requirement is for any student enrolled in school and not contingent on in-person instruction.
Because of the current circumstances we are extending the deadline for physicals and immunizations this year to October 15, 2020.
