Board of Education Statement in Support of Superintendent Ehrman
The Board of Education has seen the public statement made by the New Berlin Education
Association regarding its vote of no confidence in Superintendent Dr. Ehrman and
believes the NBEA’s allegations are both incorrect and disingenuous.
Dr. Ehrman has repeatedly demonstrated respect for the Collective Bargaining
Agreement and the administrative procedures of the District. In his seven years with the
District, there has been only one bona fide grievance, which was denied by the District
and is the subject of a pending arbitration.
Dr. Ehrman has demonstrated leadership skills, which promote communication and takes
responsibilities for his and the District’s actions. Dr. Ehrman has repeatedly attempted to
schedule meetings with the NBEA. Dating back to May 29, 2018, Dr. Ehrman has
repeatedly sent correspondence to Mr. Kindred requesting to meet in a group setting to
promote transparency. The refusal to meet has been by the NBEA. The NBEA has
refused to bargain a labor-management conference, which would encourage informal
discussion to resolve any issues and open the lines of communication.
On October 4, 2019, the District received the results of its financial audit for fiscal year
2018-2019. On October 10, 2019, the auditor presented his findings at the Board of
Education meeting. The results of the audit overwhelmingly support that Dr. Ehrman has
put the District in an improved financial state by doubling the District’s total funds. Dr.
Ehrman was personally not made aware of any specific irregularities involving monthly
paychecks. Any complaints about irregularities were brought to the attention of the District
Chief Financial Officer Lori Niemeier and were all expeditiously handled. In fact, teachers
received communication from Ms. Niemeier explaining the errors on behalf of Blue Cross
Blue Shield in denying claims when insurance premiums had been paid in a timely
The Board of Education, Dr. Ehrman, and the administrative staff respect and understand
the rights of its NBEA members.
The Board of Education is aware of the culture Dr. Ehrman has fostered for the District,
which is focused on student growth, fiscal responsibility, and a sense of community. The
Board of Education has complete confidence in Dr. Ehrman and his dedication to New
Berlin CUSD #16.
